GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The West Chicago Park District’s Summer Camp is designed to keep kids safe and active, encourage social growth, and most of all provide a fun-filled summer with memories that will last a lifetime! Under the direction of the Summer Camp Director and Recreation Supervisor, the Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for participants in the Camp Keppler and Camp WeGo programs.
Camp activities include sports, crafts, games, outdoor activities, science, experiments, swimming, special events, and more! Summer Camp participants range in age from 3 years through 8th grade.
Summer Camp Shifts:
- Monday-Friday (8:45am-3:45pm) with occasional early-morning hours (6:45-8:45am) and late hours (3:45-5:45pm)
- • Staff will be scheduled for two to five days each week, depending on enrollment, plus weekly meetings and occasional sub shifts
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise participants, ensure safety, enforce rules, follow discipline guidelines, provide basic first aid, and resolve problems as needed.
- Implement daily activities as assigned.
- Effectively communicate with supervisors, coworkers, campers, and parents.
- Set-up and clean-up camp activities, lunch, snacks, and the facility.
- Other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor
Education & Qualifications:

- Minimum Age: 16
- Applicants are preferred to have one or more year(s) of childcare experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Applicants must be available for pre-season training in late May
