JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR. The Production Supervisor will superviseemployees to maximize safety, quality, and productivity. Key responsibilities include daily production scheduling, lot control, inventory accuracy, reporting, sanitation, housekeeping, and adherence to standard operating procedures. Assures correct preparation of products and finished goods. Shared responsibility for new methods e.g. 5S, standardized work, and methods improvements.

This position will require the employee to work overtime as needed. Overtime is scheduled based upon individual job responsibilities and the needs of the department.

  • Develop and operate within SOPs
  • Lot control, inventory accuracy, and reporting
  • Safety (line inspections, department safety audits, safety meetings)
  • Quality (high-quality production, quality audits, clean environment) HACCP, Verification of CCP's
  • Cost/Production efficiency, maintenance, strategic planning for the continuation of production
  • Sanitation and housekeeping
  • Employee relations issues

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in the food or beverage manufacturing industry required.
  • A college degree is preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate employees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Lead by example, professionally, morally, and ethically.
  • Highly organized, methodical, disciplined, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Knowledge and experience with GMP and safety regulations.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills are required.
  • Basic computer skills within programs such as Microsoft Office and the internet required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection).
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate heavy equipment.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures and be able to discern differences between red/green/amber.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing environment with some allergen products

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat.

ACCOUNTABILITIES CHECKLIST

Planning/ Coordinating/Supervising/ Controlling

  • Prioritizes and schedules own work and work of direct reports.
  • Develops long-range objectives and plans to meet them i.e. safety, sanitation, etc.
  • Checks the quality and timeliness of own work and work of direct reports.
  • Communicates company programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Orients new staff members to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Reviews salaries and recommends changes in pay levels. Recommends promotions, transfers, demotions, and terminations.
  • Maintains discipline and recommends corrective actions.
  • Plans and evaluates performance results of employees.
  • Ensures all ingredients, WIP, supplies, and tools and equipment are used, cleaned, and stored per SOP.

FOOD SAFETY and QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow applicable procedures and work instructions.
