As part of the West Chicago Artist-in-Residency Program Christopher Lucero, creator of Calaveras of Chicago, has been interviewing and portraying West Chicago residents in his stylistic interpretation of their lives through designed makeup in the calavera style.
Residents are invited to attend Coffee with the Mayor, held regularly on the last Saturday of January, April, July, and October from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at West Chicago City Hall, 475 Main Street. This informal event offers an opportunity for residents to discuss items of interest for the community with the mayor.
The City of West Chicago and the West Chicago Public Library District hosts this spook-tacular afternoon full of fang-tastic fun for the whole family in downtown West Chicago each year! Every year is a little different, but residents can count on a fun experience that includes the City of West Chicago's Downtown Trick-or-Treating and the West Chicago Library District's Trunk-or-Treat.

Trick-or-treat with the horses at the Danada Equestrian Center in Wheaton on Oct. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. Horses in the barn will be handing out candy and dressed to impress! Vote for the one with the best costume, and then take a tractor-drawn wagon ride through the fall forest preserve.
Experience a 2-mile self-guided lantern-lit hike along spooky trails starting with a ghost story and ending with family and friends around the fire. Hikes leave every 15 minutes.
