Be part of something special as we celebrate West Chicago’s participation in the WAVES OF DUPAGE: Ukiyo-e Public Art Project—a regional collaboration (College of DuPage, McAninch Arts Center, and Cleve Carney Museum of Art) showcasing the beauty of DuPage communities through large-scale public murals in the traditional Japanese ukiyo-e style.
The featured artwork highlights West Chicago Community High School, an iconic local landmark celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026. Created by artist Rich Lo, the artwork connects our heritage with the timeless elegance of Japanese art. Learn more about the coordinating 2025 exhibition, Hokusai and Ukiyo-e: The Floating World, at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art from May 31–September 21, 2025 and to see all participating communities artwork.
Stop by to see the mural, enjoy refreshments, and connect with the community as we celebrate this creative addition to our downtown! Remarks start at 5:00 PM. If you're not able to make the event, the artwork will be on display through September 21.
Special thanks to Gallery 200 for hosting the artwork through September and this celebration, and also to the Cultural Arts Commission for supporting public art in our community.
