Comprehensive Webinar:
Don’t be afraid of strategic planning! Even small nonprofits can – and should – engage in some form of strategic planning. This webinar will introduce you to the concept of strategic planning and the important role it can play in helping your organization develop priorities and goals to better accomplish your mission. We will cover:
* The goals and objectives for executing a strategic planning process,
* The basic elements of the process, including how to get started,
* Some different approaches to strategic planning,
* Timeframes and scheduling,
* How to incorporate your planning and its outcome into organizational operations, and
* Pitfalls to avoid
Faculty: Alex Shapiro has worked at non-profits for almost 30 years. With this depth of experience, he now offers consulting services for small and mid-size organizations in the areas of strategic planning and fundraising, including the annual fund, major giving, grantwriting, campaigns, and more. Previously, he was Chief Philanthropy Officer for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, supervising a team of 16 staff members. In this position, he oversaw the successful completion of the $155,000,000 capital campaign, in addition to increasing year-over-year results for the annual fund. Prior to St. Louis, he was Vice President of Philanthropy for the Kansas City Symphony, where he supervised 8 staff members and was responsible for raising more than $11 million annually. In 2017, he oversaw the successful completion of the Symphony’s $55 million endowment campaign. Before the orchestras, he served as Executive Director of the Foundation and Director of Institutional Advancement at the Institute of American Indian Arts, a university in Santa Fe, NM. Leadership roles at other organizations included Executive Director of Santa Fe Pro Musica, Executive Director of DANCECleveland and Director of Development at Las Cumbres Community Services.
